Harry Farrar offers a variety of traditional, historic as well as popular tunes. These include the very popular STARZ hit series Outlander theme song. Sometimes know as the “Skye Boat Song”.
The classic “Here Comes the Bride” is always a wonderful option.
The famous tune “Scotland The Brave” is recognizable and nice to hear as guests are entering the wedding reception. Notably, it is a regal tune for leading the newly weds to the head table.
However, if you are looking for something more Celtic or Irish, popular tunes like “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”, “Danny Boy”, “Tura Lura Lura” and “St. Patrick’s Day” are wonderful additions.
Upbeat jigs like “Gary Owen”, “Cork Hill”, and “Itchy Fingers” are lots of fun for receptions. These are lively and make it easy for guests to put their hands together.
There are many non-traditional but popular tunes that fit well on the bagpipes including “You Are My Sunshine” and “Ode To Joy”. The musical scale of the bagpipe is considered limited with seven notes.
Finally, folk songs from the Americana era sound great and solid on the pipes. The tunes “Camp town Races” and “Oh When The Saints” are great for all generations in addition to all the traditional music. Also good for weddings.
