Chatsworth Oakwood Cemetery Bagpiper

Chatsworth Oakwood Cemetery Bagpiper

Bag piper Harry Farrar performed for Robert Johnson service at Oakwood Cemetery. He was in the United States Army and was a greatly respected businessman and family person. His wife Nancy was very well spoken at the service and was happy to have her husband at rest. Best wishes ahead to the family.

Often, bagpipers perform for church services as well as burials. The sound of the bagpipes brings a formal feel to these types of ceremonies. Many famous people are resting in peace at Oakwood in Chatsworth, CA. The cemetery is located near Rocky Point on Topanga Canyon. The hillside cemetery has a chapel as well as a Daughter’s Of The Revolution Church which is active for memorial services.

about us Headquarters Bagpipeplayers.com

A long, long time ago in a town called Woodland Hills the beginnings were in place to eventually be the headquarters of  Scottish Pipes & Drums. This page is About Us – a fast history

An Englishman and a Canadian woman moved to the valley the day after their wedding. Nine (9) months to the day- Harry Farrar was born.  Mother Sharon started a popular Scottish Highland dance school, that would eventually create several dance champions. This included Harry’s brother, Bruce and countless others over the course of 40 years. Today the latest generational dance champion is Cassidy Farrar, Harry’s daughter. Interestingly enough Harry’s wife Amanda, also was a dance champ from the dance school. She also grew up in the house five doors down…

Time Marches On

With a dance school, obviously! a bagpiper was needed. At the age 10, Harry began taking lessons from a respected teacher in the Southland-Jim Thompson. Harry would join several bagpipe bands over the years and compete in a few solo contests along the way. At age 18, Harry took out a $2 a month listing in the ATT Yellow Pages. And the phone number +1 (818) 716-7522 has been the “Bagpiper For Hire” hotline ever since.

Over the years Harry Sr. continued to perform professionally with the bagpipes for hundreds of celebrities and more importantly, many thousands of great folks who love the sound, culture and history of all things Scotland. Ireland also has found a way into the “play list”. With growing referrals and new business gigs increasing, other pipers and drummers joined in on live events like weddings, TV/Filmparties, Burn’s dinners and March 17th. These talented entertainers included: Tim, Mike, and Chris Huntley, George MacGillvray, and Kevin McBrien as “Drum Major”. (aka Drunken Major)

About Us | Irish Bagpipers

As time marched on Harry Jr. or “H6” took up the pipes and with several awards to his name, he joined the money-making arm of Scottish Pipes & Drums. Often when a eye-catching bass drum is needed for larger events, Amanda joins in and pounds out a solid tempo and a smile! She’s Hot.

About Us – Bagpipers Continued…

The internet arrived and Scottish Pipes & Drums launched (early in the game) www.bagpipes.com.  Later, a more comprehensive site was created and now is Bagpipeplayers.com. This site ranks well when searched online. Now with social media and direct marketing Harry’s Scottish Pipes & Drums is a reliable and historical place to go for hiring bagpipers, drummers and Scottish/Irish dancers- all of them top entertainers and performers.
