Granada High Charter Bagpipers and Drummers
Celebrate 20 years in Granada Hills. This event was a very well done graduation of the senior class of 2024. Faculty and guests watched on as 1156 students turned their tassels. Finally, the high school years are history.
Julian Gomez of GHC was the master planner of this top notch celebration. And bagpipe players and drummers have been part of the event for years. This is because of the team name “Granada Hills Highlanders“.
For decades bagpipe and drum musicians have been incorporated into high school marching bands
Granada High School had a strong team in the 70’s and 80’s. Also. the quality of the bagpipes was excellent. The ceremony was at John Elway Stadium.
Interestingly, not too far away Glendora High School also has a bagpipe band contingent. And this band is active and competes around the country. One year they were in the Rose Parade.
Harry Farrar is director and founder of Scottish Pipes & Drums. Basically SP&D (bagpipeplayers.com) is a professional group of a few musicians that handle private events as well as high profile bagpipe performances. This includes TV/Film and celebrity performances, including “Hell’s Kitchen”.
Bagpipe band performances mean different things to people
Often travelers write about a visit to Scotland and how there was a bagpiper on every corner. However, in the USA this is not so common.
Other annual events are the same as Granada High Charter Bagpipers. Bagpipeplayers.com does graduations for Crespi, West Charter & three others. Contact Harry by cell +1(818) 716-7522
The original bagpipes for GHC remain the well know R.G. Hardie from the 70’s
