San Fernando Mission Bagpiper is Harry Farrar. And Harry is a traditional Scottish Bagpiper and performs often at the historical Catholic cemetery. Indeed, Scottish Pipes and Drums, founded by Harry Farrar bagpipes for many different funerals. And, this includes military, private and clergy burials. Mission San Fernando Rey De Espana. Built 1797. Named after St. Ferdinand, King of Spain. This was well before Harry became the San Fernando Mission Bagpiper. San Fernando Mission Cemetery has records of burials in the early 1800s.
Bob Hope and Bagpipers | Turnberry Golf Course 1982
Bob Hope was buried on July 30, 2003, at the mission cemetery. Interestingly, the event was kept secret from public. Indeed, Bob Hope enjoyed Bagpipe Players and was often escorted at famous golf courses including Turnberry Golf Course in 1982. San Fernando Mission Bagpiper Harry was not one of the pipers for Bob, however a big fan over his younger years.
Notably, Bob Hope had a large public memorial with famous celebrities attending, including: Gerald Ford, Nancy Reagan, Brooke Shields, Larry King, and Ed McMahon.
Also, Ritchie Valens is interned at this cemetery. He is famous for the hit song “La Bamba”. And, was killed in a well- known plane crash in 1959.

Often, Scottish Pipes and Drums performs at iconic Castaway Steak House. And, the view from the hills is amazing. Weddings and birthday parties are popular at this venue. Interestingly, Harry (San Fernando Mission Bagpiper) played bagpipes for a 50th anniversary and a memorial service for the same family. And, this was 20 years apart.
